Bolton’s Start Well Conference- Closing the Word gap: 7th February 2020

Please see Kathryn’s Blog Post below and a link to the conference flyer with booking details:

Nationally, and within Bolton, a word gap exists which is impacting on our children’s future life chances.

Effective communication and language development is paramount. Communication and Language underpins all aspects of learning. It is fundamental in preparing children for school, supporting their ability to listen and attend, to understand and speak with confidence in an age appropriate way.

Join us at our Bolton early years conference in February, where we will look more closely at the impact of the word gap in Bolton. Through reflecting on our own practice, we will explore research and share good practice as we consider how we can inspire those around us to make a difference to the word gap.

In addition to key note speeches putting the word gap in Bolton in context, looking at the long term impact and from OFSTED, there will be two workshops delivered by Bolton’s Early Years Communication and Language Development Service which will focus on “Making every interaction count” and “Bringing vocabulary alive”, so that you can all return to your settings armed with the tools to make a different to the speech and language development of the children in your care.

If Communication and Language Development and/or Personal Social and Emotional Development is an identified priority in your setting/school, you may want to use your EYPP funding.
